But how can one get an FSSAI Central License? What are the eligibility criteria? What are the benefits? Who should file for one?
What is the Central FSSAI license?
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) grants licenses to food companies doing business at the national or central level known as “Central FSSAI licenses.” Businesses that manufacture, process, package, store, distribute, or import food items are required to have this license. To continue running the food business, the Central FSSAI license must be renewed every year. It is valid for a term of 1 year..
A food business operator that operates on a large scale or has an annual revenue of more than 20 crores rupees will be given a license by the Central FSSAI.
The Central FSSAI License is a crucial document that guarantees the business is selling or distributing high-quality, safe food items. Additionally, it allows the FSSAI to control the food business and safeguard consumer health and safety.
Benefits of getting an FSSAI Central License
Here are some of the most important benefits of getting a central license:
- Consumer Awareness: A food business operator (FBO) with a food license can market his or her company as having superior quality. This enhances the company’s reputation as a reliable source in the food industry.
- Use of the FSSAI mark: The use of the FSSAI mark on menu cards, packaging, and other materials helps company owners advertise their products’ high quality to other customers. The emblem is prominently displayed so that customers know that the contents of the food are of high quality and the brand is trustworthy.
- Business Expansion: A food license enables a food business operator to expand into new locations both inside and outside of the region. Every day, the food industry grows, making this the ideal time for any food-related businesses to grow. Therefore, having a current license will make the expansion procedure simpler because FSSAI favors those who have licenses.
● Expand into other regions: Every new business that is founded is eager to expand its activities to new areas, investigate new industries, and discover a new clientele. It is considerably simpler to grow your business into new areas or to create new locations if you have a valid food license. Obtaining the loan or other forms of financing required to create the funding that is needed to develop the company further also gives a sense of trust to the person or bank providing the same.
